Residents and staff at The Maltings on Jewison Lane, near Bridlington have been celebrating community spirit, a major company milestone and exciting plans for the future.

One of the highlights of recent weeks has been the return of the Little Sprouts gardening group from Flamborough School, which regularly visits the care home to work alongside residents in the courtyard garden.
Rob Hall, manager at The Maltings, said the intergenerational project continues to bring benefits for everyone involved.
“Watching a resident who has spent a lifetime gardening showing a seven-year-old how to plant something properly never gets old,” he said. “The children ask fantastic questions and our residents love having the opportunity to share their knowledge and experience. It gives them a real sense of purpose and enjoyment.”

To recognise the group’s contribution, The Maltings presented Little Sprouts with a £250 donation from its Community Kindness Fund, which supports local organisations and causes that are important to residents and staff.
Mr Hall encouraged other community groups to apply for support.
“We want to help projects that make a positive difference locally and the application process is very straightforward,” he said.

The celebrations continued with a garden party marking the 40th anniversary of Fisher Care. Residents, families and staff enjoyed live music, a picnic and dancing in the sunshine.
“It was a wonderful day and a chance for everyone to come together and celebrate,” said Mr Hall.
Looking ahead, The Maltings is preparing for the opening of Bempton, a new dedicated dementia community, in September.
“It has been a long time in the planning and we’re incredibly excited,” said Mr Hall. “We look forward to welcoming people through the doors and showing them what we’ve created.”
