Football crazy…football mad.
That’s a statement you could say about two Bridlington footballers who had what some would say ‘a madcap idea’ after their own local soccer match playing for Bridlington Rovers Panda’s was postponed recently.

Josh Garbutt and Declan Potts were hugely disappointed after their game was called off and at a loose end for the afternoon.
They were sat in the Harpers Bar at Bridlington CYP on Gypsey Road when Josh came up with the idea to go for a night out to wherever the team which scored the first goal of the day on Sky’s Soccer Saturday programme.

Within five minutes of the 3pm nationwide kick off the first goal went in and the friends knew their destination – much to amusement of their team mates – a huge 265 mile trip to Scotland.
Thanks to a goal scored by Ryan Schiavone of East Fife in their 1-0 win against Albion the lads had a long journey to fulfil.

They were given a lift through to York train station and arrived in Edinburgh in the evening. They then jumped on another train to Markinch (the nearest station) and then took a taxi ride to the East Fife football ground.
To prove their visit they found a local to take some pictures in front of the club sign.
They then spent the night in a hotel back in Edinburgh and returned to Bridlington the following day and returned home at around 9pm.

Both Josh and Declan said: “This won’t be the end of these ideas and we will plan other trips when we have a free day and we hope to be joined by more of our team mates.”
