Lions Bookshop Closes
The Lions bookshop that has helped to fund many charitable causes within Bridlington over the years has closed.Derek Boyland, a Lions spokesman and volunteer manager for the shop, said: “The shop has had many loyal customers but regrettably profit margins have decreased and the reading of books has declined in the wake of streaming from the internet.
“The shop is run by a team of Lions and Lions Friends and Bridlington Lions Club would like to thank all those volunteers, past and present, for their service within the shop. They would also like to thank the many people who have donated books and to all those regular customers who have supported the venture over the years with their purchases.
The Lions Club now has a new business, with the opening of the Craft Emporium on Prospect Street with its flourishing complement of crafters showing their individual skills, selling their locally made products for the Bridlington Lions Club charity.
