A mouth cancer screening event is scheduled for November at the King Street Market in Bridlington. This initiative, aimed at raising awareness, is being organized with the help of City Health Dental, the Mouth Cancer Foundation, and the City Health Care Partnership.
Mouth cancer can affect anyone, but those who consume alcohol or use tobacco products—whether by smoking or chewing—are at a greater risk. Early diagnosis significantly improves recovery chances for those affected.
Mouth Cancer Action Month emphasizes the importance of screening, which can be lifesaving.
The screening will take place on Wednesday, November 26, from 10 AM to 3:30 PM. Attendees can also receive complimentary advice on healthy lifestyle choices from local health and wellness services, as well as support for quitting smoking.
Angela Langton from Bridlington Market, explained, “This is a valuable initiative we are introducing at King Street Market—free mouth cancer screening. It’s inspired by our town’s ambassador, Reece Holland and it’s incredibly important.”
She added, “Any health organisations interested in participating are welcome to join us with a free stall at the market. We will also be distributing fruit on the day, generously provided by Bridlington Market and Hewitts Fruit Stall.
“We encourage everyone to come out and support this event.”
The Mouth Cancer Foundation is dedicated to raising awareness about this critical issue. “Every year, we help support dental practices in providing care for head and neck cancer patients and their families,” they added.
