Bridlington and the rest of the county will be celebrating the most important day of the year – Yorkshire Day – on Monday 1 August.
For those who don’t know, Yorkshire Day is an annual celebration of all things that are great about the best place to live and work in the world.

With a stunning coastline, glorious and diverse countryside, historic buildings and monuments and of course the fabulous people, the county of Yorkshire is set to celebrate their big day in traditional style.

And our very own Sewerby Hall & Gardens will be playing host to a variety of events to
show the rest of the world what being Yorkshire is all about.

To kick off the Yorkshire Day celebrations there will be the reading of the Traditional Proclamation by the East Riding Crier Michael Wood.
This will herald a number of other events in and around the historic hall and gardens.

Sewerby Hall’s very own butler Rob Chester will be helping with the unique Yorkshire Pudding and Spoon Races – and also offer advice how to balance the traditional pudding on a small wooden spoon.

Visitors will also have the chance to make a traditional Yorkshire Flag, complete with the sacred white rose.

And to keep the fun going Rusticus Theatre Group will be adding to the festivities with their very own style of madness and mayhem – suitable for children and adults alike.

No Yorkshire Day would be complete without dancing – and the Makara Morris Dancers will be making several appearances throughout the day. Music will be played throughout by The Assembly Line and for those with a competitive nature – flat cap flinging will also be another star attraction.
